How To: Add an image to a post without using an external site

Post by Russell Phillips »

One feature that this new forum software offers is the ability to upload images to the forum, instead of using sites like imgur.

To upload an image, click the Attachments tab below the post text box. Click the Add files button and choose your files.

The maximum file size is 512KB. To place the file directly in the post, click the Place inline button after it has uploaded. Otherwise, the image will appear under the post.

It's not recommended on other forums as it rapidly uses up the space available.
What's the point of doing one period, when you can do them all.......... In life most people specialise so gradually they know more and more about less and less so eventually they know everything about nothing. I work on a broad front so eventually I'll know nothing about everything.

To be honest, mostly we play Memoir '44, and he usually wins  Jen & I play a lot of boardgames, and the kids often play with us, so I guess he's more used to that kind of setup. Him and his sister both have some of their own figures now. They're far too large for 20mm vehicles, so I might have to look into simple skirmish rules for them to use with those.

No headless Airfix, though. They're both careful when they're playing with my toys :)

That's one reason why I set the limit for uploaded images to 512KB, so it can't be used for large images.

The storage limit is set at 1GB, which means that we can store at least 2,000 images. I honestly have no idea how long it'll take you lot to upload 2,000 images.

Russell, judging from how popular the other SOTCW forum site was, I would say 2000 images won't take long to be posted here!!! :D

You may be right, Grant, although the 512KB limit means that very large photos will have to be hosted externally. I'll review the space limit if we run out.

As a work colleague once said, "A picture is worth a thousand words, but it takes up more space on the server."
