Re: Total loss of focus and drive :(
In my case it is something that only just scrapes into 20th century - a river gunboat for my 15mm German colonials . Only just bought the wood and fittings, so not even started yet! The end result will be about 24cm long and in real terms, nearer to 1:200 scale, but the end results should look something like this (though nowhere near as elaborate!!):

It will be much simplified! Actually, when you look closely at the structure, it isn't that complex: Hull, two basically rectangular deckhouses, a central rectangular section below the funnel. Upper deck with a flying bridge across, oval conning tower, single circular section funnel and mast. Everything else is fittings and I have just purchased the most difficult to scratchbuild ones (boats, ventilators, searchlight, guns and a capstan) from the excellent ranges available in the UK from Cornwall Model Boats (https://www.cornwallmodelboats.co.uk/)
However, time will tell and I will share some pictures as I progress

Sounds interesting. I'm looking forward to reading it.
For myself, I'm in the final stages of publishing my first novel (co-written with a friend).

Perhaps you need a change of emphasis. Research drawing models in 3D, get a few printed and if its fun, buy a printer. Thing of all those never before made models you could have!
