I had intended to post here every time a new article was posted, but this is the first time I remembered to do it

Thanks for posting! A very interesting read. The Japanese took advantage of the prevailing jet stream winds to deploy balloon weapons against the U.S. and Canada during the war as well.

Even after almost 75 years, they still occasionally turn up over here:

Thanks, an interesting read
What's the point of doing one period, when you can do them all.......... In life most people specialise so gradually they know more and more about less and less so eventually they know everything about nothing. I work on a broad front so eventually I'll know nothing about everything.

I'd heard of the Japanese bomb balloons before, but Grant's article was the first time I'd heard of the British using barrage balloons offensively.David Reasoner wrote: ↑11 Jun 2019, 22:37The Japanese took advantage of the prevailing jet stream winds to deploy balloon weapons against the U.S. and Canada during the war as well.

Likewise I saw a documentary years ago on the Japanese balloons ,but the Brit Barrage balloon effort was news to me.

I wrote that!! I wrote that!!

Seriously, a mention of something on this forum set me off to research it, and I'm glad it's attracting attention.
At the end of the day, the comments/feedback, have been a bit of an 'ego boost', as it proves people are reading what we write, (whether it was in the old Journal, or now online), and makes you realise the SOTCW isn't 'dead in the water', and still has something to offer.
Thanks also go to Russ Philips for editing and then posting it, so come on people, write something and send it in!!!
