Any other Modern gamers ?

Post by panzerman47 » 07 Feb 2018, 20:22

As it says does anyone else here game Moderns?

By this I mean NATO/WARPAC 1980’s. Yes I know that isn’t probably “Modern” but that’s what I’ve called it since the 1980’s and I’m too old to change now.... :) When I game it it’s in 20mm.

I used to play Cold War Commander (mainly Soviets in Europe) with 6mm figures and tanks but my 'opponent' is now other side of country (I moved not him) so lapsed, pity as we also played Vietnam ambush / rescue type games using same set of rules and 15mm figures from another player too.
Enjoy your moderns

I play a lot of 6mm Cold War Commander with brigade to divisional strength units for British, US Army, USMC, Soviet, Polish Naval, French and West Germans.

I also have 20mm BAOR, USMC, Royal Marines and Soviets and 15mm Soviets, British and USMC and have used them to play AK47, Team Yankee, Force on Force and Arc of Fire. At the club we're about to try out the unofficial Battlegroup Modern rule set to see how they play. All seem to give a good game, although Team Yankee has fallen out of favour over the last 12 months; for me it was a "balanced" scenario pitching 6 Leo 1s and 6 Leo 2s against 50+ East German T-55s.

Cheers, Andy

Not quite 1980’s, but I am starting a solo ‘Imaginations’ campaign using 1:87 minitanks models of German, Russian, US & British forces from the 1970’s

Keith and I play Modern Spearhead, around a mutually agreed 1982 time frame. A few AARs here:
