Journal 95 and Editors Role

Post by freewargamesrules » 30 Apr 2018, 12:08

I am currently working on Journal 95 which will be 44 pages. Unfortunately it is not a very balanced issue (but a chef has to work with the ingredients to hand) and it will use up all of our articles leaving nothing at all in reserve. I'm hoping to finish it in the next couple of months.

I intend to stand down as Editor at the completion of that issue. When I volunteered my services at the end of 2014 it was only as a temporary measure until a new editor could be found. Now nearly four years, and 13 issues later I feel I have taken the Journal as far as I can.

Therefore, the Society will be looking for a new editor. I am quite happy to give any advice and help to anyone who wishes to take on this role.

I am hoping to have a meeting with the rest of the team before stepping down.

Thanks for taking on the role and doing so well under difficult circumstances. Sorry to hear you can't continue, but understand it must take up a lot of your time as well as being quite frustrating at times.

Thanks again,

Andy

Do we have any volunteer editor(s)?

Although I guess there is nothing to edit currently?

I for one would love to hear a briefing from Pete about what the job entails as I dont think I have an accurate picture of what we are asking someone to do? I am thinking a brass tacks description, like "need to use such and such software to collate articles sent it" and "willingness to type up someones manuscript thats hand written" or "need to know how to photo shop images", etc..

Additionally I suppose we need to advertise where software or help to manage software might come from etc.?

Just thinking out loud.

I still have 15months to go till I can retire and free up some energy or time for this kind of volunteering!
