Is this real?

My invented nation of Morvalonga appears to have become real!!!

scroll through this presentation and decide if the author really believes my tongue in cheek nation exists:

Re: Is this real?

That is hilarious.....your webpage is listed in the bibliography too!
All very serious in its presentation.....I reckon Morvalonga is real to this guy.
There was a TV questionnaire where they asked US college students who Hitler was.........very few correct answers........lots of scary wrong answers!

Re: Is this real?

Apparently Don Featherstone went to his grave believingwhen that JRR Tolkien, C S Lewis and Brig Peter Young took part in a medieval Wargames campaign in Oxford in 1939, all based on this post of mine on Vintage Wargaming:

I feel a bit guilty about that.

Was the date not a bit of a giveaway?

Re: Is this real?

Ah, the wonders of the internet and lack of critical thinking...
Well done on joining a select few.
On another forum I use occasionally (What If Modellers) one the guys "invented" the PR19 Gloster Meteor - a long-span high altitude recce version of the WWII and onwards British jet (think early, twin-engined U-2) - along with a "back story" for the model and was actually contacted by the CIA for details because they were doing a written report on recce aircraft around the world and couldn't find any official documentation about it.
Searches on the web will also show that his - entirely fictional - aircraft has been used as an "explanation" for UFO sightings in Australia because the back story was taken as gospel by some idiot.

Never underestimate the gullibility of the great world public. There are one or two inventions of mine out there as well.

It does look like she believes it to be real. It's to be hoped that she got some marks deducted for that!

Re: Is this real?

How could she think it was real though. Americans are unreal.  I was once on a train to Mallaig with a team of American tourists ,we were crossing the Glenfinnan railway bridge ,when one of them explained that it was an Aquaduct taking the water of the mountains into the lake. This despite you could still see the last few carriages still on it. Emboldened by how well this was received she then went on to explain how the "45" Prince Charlie monument ,had just been built by prince Charles for Diana ,as a love token.  All done with great authority. PML .  Well Alan that most definitely takes the biscuit ,you should get in touch with her including the letters after your name and enlighten her .  cheers  John

Re: Is this real?

Since it is now officially real (it is on the internet) please book your holidays or safari trip.  Perhaps the student will be my first visitor?

Alan,

How much is a flight?
Can you recommend any hotels?
And where can you buy the drugs that the bicyclist is using to escape that lion?

CarlL (Viva the Morvalonga Front for Independence - and subsidies from the British Government!)

PS I should write to Brussels to seek EU assistance for the children of Morvalonga, in true - corrupt - Presidential fashion?)

Re: Is this real?

Well, it shows how easy people can be mislead by internet content, just because they are not thinking about what is said in articles and/or doing any research on things that are strange.
