Great posts dadlamassu / Alan.... !! You got me chuckling....

And Ian is quite right about those midges (at least from my personal experiences in the west of Scotland) once it warms up its midge country and they are worse than the Spanish mosquitos!!

Mind I worked in Elgin one summer, in north east Scotland, Morayshire to be more precise, and those night time skies are something lovely to behold... as a kid I would have played footie all night in that lovely glow, but I was a kid on the Lancashire coast and after 10.30pm it was usually pitch black... buying fluorescent orange footballs didn't solve the lack of light problem....
