sdkfz 8 12t half tracks

Post by Fire-at-Will »

Two versions of the same vehicle entering France in 1940 then leaving in 1944. It is a very cheap 4D model of an sdkfz 7 that I bought from Hong Kong/China, which took months to arrive because of the lockdown. It is over scale as 1/72 but matches the 12t sdkfz 8 in 1/76. There are no decals, stowage or crew provided with the model, so I raided by bits box to provide them. The two models only cost £7 including postage.

Not sure what they will tow yet, but most likely are a 100mm schwere Kanone 18 for early war and a 88mm Pak 43 for late war.
What's the point of doing one period, when you can do them all.......... In life most people specialise so gradually they know more and more about less and less so eventually they know everything about nothing. I work on a broad front so eventually I'll know nothing about everything.

it is infact an sdkfz 8 not a 7, you can tell by the wheels
we are working on the armoured cab version with the 88 mm gun on it as used in france & poland.

makes sense as the scaling was completely out for 1/72. Very tempted by the idea of an armoured cab version if I could pick it up so cheaply again.
