WW1 French summer 1917

Post by Fire-at-Will »

A nice contrast to my Germans and British for the same era. These are all Strelets figures

The infantry are all in summer uniform, organised in a platoon of 41 men, 2 sections of 9 men (including 2 bombers, but there was no one throwing grenades in the set!!) and 2 sections of 9 men (each with 1 chauchat and 3 VB)

The heavier support a Schneider 105mm

and a 155mm GPF

The artillery lacks detail, but is good enough for wargames purposes, the figures provided enough for the crews some loader teams and a couple of OP teams

I really had to have one of these after I found one at the Batterie Moltke on Jersey

What's the point of doing one period, when you can do them all.......... In life most people specialise so gradually they know more and more about less and less so eventually they know everything about nothing. I work on a broad front so eventually I'll know nothing about everything.

The whole forces look excellent Will - you have been a busy boy :D :D :D

I do like the big French guns :D

I may have to buy/build a 155 as an objective - can`t see us ever having one in action on a tabletop
"“Sir with the compliments of my officer, your shooting was excellent – you killed four of our men”!
