Help with Roco Minitanks spares

Post by Blockhead123 » Tue Jan 09, 2018 10:29 pm

Folks - this is a plea for help with some Roco Minitanks spares.
I am building a set of 'Imaginations' armies of the 1950s/60s/70s using the old 1:87 Minitanks - and have been buying up various job lots on e-Bay.
During the course of this, I have acquired a number of models that are missing critical 'bits' that I cannot readily scratchbuild replacements for - in particular track units.
I have the following models for which I have only the track unit for one side (see attached picture)
IMG_6685_Tracks.JPG
IMG_6685_Tracks.JPG (92.22 KiB) Viewed 459 times
Going from top to bottom of the picture and using the original Minitanks code numbers:
Z208, US Self propelled AA gun M42
Z221, US Medium Tank M47
Z220, US Medium Tank M48
Z163, Russian Medium Tank T54
What I am looking for are the MIRROR IMAGE track units to the ones shown in the picture
Is anyone able to help, please? I am happy to pay reasonable costs - or if anyone else is missing bits for Minitanks I have a number of spares (including several of the M47 track unit shown) that I could swap
In hope
Ian

Ian, I cannot assist with the parts you are looking for but I do have surplus/damaged vehicles that you may find useful.

1 x M40 155mm SP gun
3 x M-10 Wolverine 76mm tank destroyers
1 x M-10 turret less gun barrel
1 x M-36 Jackson turret
1 x PT-76 less gun barrel
1 x M109 Chassis only
1 x Unimog less wheels and canopy
1 x set of M-40 HVSS Tracks
1 single track unit which looks like either an M-60 unit and is the mirror of the M-48 one you are looking for.

Yours if you want them.

Alan - many thanks for your kind offer - and yes, all of those would be useful as long as you are sure that you won't need them.
By return, I have found about 4 diecast Hummers, which look to be the same scale as those Dinky scout cars I sent you the other week - would they be of use?

The Hummers would fit nicely with the boys if I cannot use them. Do you still have the jeeps from last time? The boys are looking for jeeps to paint up as Jurassic Park grey/red ones. When they play their own games dinosaurs, Martians and humans battle it out on the carpet. their "rules" are quite simple and they have great fun.

Pm or email your address and I'll get them posted as soon as possible.

Ian, the box arrived just now. I can use almost everything in it and the boys will be here tonight to claim the howitzer and the larger jeeps.

Many thanks.

It's nice to see a fellow 1/87 enthusiast as we are a rare breed in the UK!

Of course, it does mean we are probably direct competitors on eBay!
These days there are a few resellers who buy some of the bulk lots.

Sadly none of your tracks to spare as these are all vehicles I tend to use... :(

Your "Imagi-Nation" project sounds interesting; back in the 1990s I had a couple of such themes, a fictional South/Central America set up (the republic of Costa Guano) and a break up of the USSR set in the "Central Eurasian Soviet Socialist Republic".

The former used various western kit with Argentine and U.S. helmeted troops with Police, militia and rioters in several "Junta" inspired coups. I had vague plans for a couple of opponents, a communist Cuba/Nicaragua clone and another western type, as I had uncovered lots of info on Guatemala, Honduras and El Salvador. I was also looking at Navies and air forces and got as far as buying some models, even coordinating duplicating 1/144 and 1/1200 aircraft for land/ naval actions.

The latter used all the various Soviet kit I had then managed to accumulate, mostly obsolete stuff. I thought I was stretching credibility, until just the other day I saw a video of stuff used in Donblas by the separatists; flat cars loaded with JS III and T34/85s and several working examples driving around.
Since then I have managed to accumulate more accurate stuff in 1/87, T72, T62, BTRs, BMPs. Now with 3D printing, a lot more has become available with prices from reasonable to extortionate.

Neil - nice to hear from a fellow collector!
Although I am looking for those particular bits, I actually have quite a few other spares like track sections (sadly all the wrong side!) - so if you are missing anything, let me know. May take a while as we have just moved house and the garage is full of boxes about 8 deep...
If you are anywhere near the West Midlands or Warwickshire, drop me a PM and perhaps we could catch up some time
Regards
Ian
