Indo-Pakistan Wars scenarios

Post by Dave Knight »

Are there any wargaming resources out there relating to the Indo-Pakistan wars? I am potentailly looking to build realatively small forces and find that rather than looking at Orbats and the like a ready made scanario or two can give me some focus to get started. Possibly using Cold War Commander.

Have you tried the ColdWarCommander web site? There are lots of resources under scenarios and battle reports. I thought there were at least a couple of regular posters from a few years back who were doing games set in the Indo-Pak war.

I'm not sure why you want scenarios specifically, as most I've seen focus on Assal Uttar:

Bob's is one of the better ones. A lot of actions in 1965 were infantry v infantry. Both India and Pakistan launched their respective 1st armoured divisions to defeat against inferior forces. I haven't looked at 1971 in detail, but it doesn't strike me as conducive to gaming as 65.

For OoB try:

Some errors, but minor and generally reliable. More information has emerged since the heady days of the stapled Journals...

The old TableTop modern scenarios book has at least one from the 65 war.

Do you mean Battlezones? It has one based on a battle on the Mandiala Heights in 1971.

If you don't mind getting more modern, GHQ's micro armour rules have a scenario set in 1990.

Edited to add: There's a link to the GHQ scenario (and plenty of others) here: http://www.ghqmodels.com/pages/military/scenarios.asp
