Tank Tactics

Post by hammurabi70 » 18 May 2019, 23:11

During WWII different nations seemed to have different approaches to supporting infantry with armour. The Germans seemed to detach tank battalions and use STUG batteries to provide support. The Americans had an approach of attaching a tank battalion to each infantry division. The Soviets I am not sure about but my recollection is the allocation of units as required.

The British had the Army Tank Brigade attached at Corps level to allocate tanks as required. Did this provide better support for integrated infantry-tank action than the others or poorer, due to lack of familiarity between the different components of the group compared to other methods used by other powers?
