Im currently putting together a unit of Sikhs that were stationed in Holland ,fighting for the Germans,
John, I know about these troops, but did they actually take part in any fighting or were they more a propaganda unit like the British Frei Corp? :?

Grant
Indians did fight heavily against the "Empire" in Burma etc.The unit stationed in Holland fought a light skirmish action in defence of the the local train station and signal box.Having previously been part of the Atlantic Wall defences cheers John

Cheers John, I didn't know that about the Holland 'detachment' and it being in action, but knew a few had fought against the Empire in Burma.

The Lykke Li Btn Alan :D An Engineer unit specialising in river crossings ;)
You've lost me. What is a Lykke Li Btn? All I get is a singer.
Yes Alan ..i assumed your link would be about Georgians fighting for Germany, but instead its a singer called Lykke Li singing about a river :) ....it was meant to be mildly amusing, its nae fun if you have tae explain it Alan ;) I see the link has now been rectified ,just putting that in so I don't come across as an idiot ,on top of feeling like a bit of a tit
Georgians were among the last of the holdouts, also on Texel island off Holland 800 Georgians based there were ordered back to the mainland. Instead they mutinied and killed over 400 German troops. The German response was to send 2 Btns of reinforcements which resulted in 500 Georgians being captured and summarily executed.
The Canadians subsequently took the island and the remaining Georgians were handed over to Russian Military Police units. cheers John

Hmm now I understand - though I did not put a link to a singer but to the Georgians or at least I thought I did. Thanks to whoever corrected it. I did correct a spelling mistake in the text. The mysteries of the web always puzzle me.
