more Arab early 20th C cavalry? (in plastic)

Over on the PSR website you can find a robust review of Strelets Set 190 Mounted Rif Rebels; whose figures are pictured below, whose images I have borrowed from that website - see http://www.plasticsoldierreview.com/review.aspx?id=2526

They are said to be 24mm tall (I presume riders in this context) so longer than many 20mm cavalry figures, but probably similar to the figures made by Raventhorpe.

Their review concludes with following:

"So as mounted Rif rebels this set is largely useless. It seems Strelets wanted to make more Arabs, perhaps for the Great War campaign in Palestine and Syria, and randomly chose to call them Rifs instead, so those looking to build an Arab army will find much that is useful here. However the poor fit is a problem whatever you choose to call them, so we were unimpressed by this largely fanciful set, which perhaps owes more to works of fiction than to history for its inspiration. We have had it suggested that the inspiration was the film 'The Wind and the Lion' (1975), which might explain some of the design decisions but does nothing to make the set more historically correct."

The horses look to me like a re-use of those from the set: Strelets Set 109 Bashi-Bazouks.
see PSR review of those and images at http://www.plasticsoldierreview.com/Review.aspx?id=1878

Perhaps this (and images above) should be the start of our interest (and we should ignore the box being labelled Rif Mounted Rebels)?

I think I can see me using these figures for games set in Palestine, Syria or Iraq in the period 1914 to 1920.

They could certainly useful both for French fights against rebels in Morocco, Syria (Druzes) also for depicting Senoussi and Lybians VS Italians from 1912 up to 1931..of course also for Turkish/Ottoman auxiliaries in WW1 and for Lawrence 's arab irregulars..but what i really don't like is the profusion of splendid, iconic muslim curved swords even in this set in addition to the foot ones ...scimitars and richly decorated curved swords could be affordable by leaders or wealthy warriors and it was a kind of status symbol...in my opinion to provide almost every foot figure (which were in practice the haratin or the liberated slaves) with a flamboyant and very visible sword scabbard is totally unrealistic ...and even for the mounted warriors is an exageration..maybe some few crude swords or knifes could have been more appropriate...
