Strelets Set 139 Japanese Type 96 with Crew

Post by CarlL » Fri Jan 05, 2018 7:25 pm

see Plastic Soldier Review for review of Strelets Set 139 Japanese Type 96 with Crew, 4 gun models and "crew"

follow link http://www.plasticsoldierreview.com/review.aspx?id=2547

The crew dont really look useful to "man" this gun.

Its not a gun I know so not sure how useful this model will be?

Any AA/ATk gun is a useful addition to my Japanese and with a bit of work maybe a couple of other armies. The side view of the crew looks OK to me.

Unfortunately, the gun model bears only the vaguest resemblance to the Army 20mm Type 98 or the Navy 25mm Type 96. Given the lack of available alternatives, I'm sure it will still fill a niche in a number of 20mm Japanese collections.

I'll likely try to order a box just for the crew figures to go with my existing scratchbuilt Japanese AA guns.

Irregular Miniatures offers a range of Japanese guns in their Really Useful Guns range?
Scale varies from 15mm to 20mm so best to get sample but they are cheap if not hi spec models (Ie usually gun barrel, carriage and two wheels).

I think it is based on the one in Beijing though how common or not this particular mounting was I don't know.

Thanks for that, Alan. First I've seen of the 25mm Type 96 on an AT carriage. Naval-style AA mountings in single, twin, or triple form were much more common.
