Where Eagles Dare.

Post by cartfc » Tue Jan 01, 2019 11:42 pm

Watched this today. Probably the best film adaptation of a Maclean novel and much better than The Guns of Navaronne. Sticks pretty close to the book too. Some iconic scenes, but the shots of a real Ju52 in flight are amongst my favourite.

Cheers Fred.

Aye The Auntie Ju is excellent and the music is spot on. Didn't watch it this time round as I know it chapter and verse.. probably everyone does . I have had all the kit together to replicate the bus for ages , but have never got round to it ,maybe give it a go this year. All the very best John

Totally silly and OTT, but great fun to watch again and again :D

Fabulous cast, Burton - just so good, great support from Eastwood too.

Pretty girls, guns and explosions - whats not to like :D

Never seen it. To be honest I'm pretty sceptical of "classic" 60s and 70s war movies in general. For every Bridge Too Far there seem to be a dozen Kelly's Heroes or Green Berets.

Its the one thing your guaranteed on this site , despite its diminished status..theres always somebody to contradict you....I did say probably...theres enough in the movie to give it a watch..
Kelly Heroes...tongue in cheek nonsense ,great fun and worth it for the bizarre soundtrack if nothing else "Mike Curb Congregation" Burning Bridges .
Oddball and the attack from the tunnel . Telly Savales . Leibstandarte tank commander . American General and French mayor scene . Pure quality .
Where Eagles dare ..Its got Richard Burton in it ,that mellifluous Welsh baritone voice ...end of story. (wont bother mentioning Ingrid Pitt & Mary Ure )
