Re: Tiger I

Not really surprising if you read about units and battles from the standpoint of the participants. For example there where 138 Panzer II (excl Luchs) in Oct 44 and 538 Panzer III gun tanks surrendered in May 45. Considerably more specialist Panzer III surrendered (HQ, OP, Recovery, Engineer, Tractor...

Re: Tiger I

Yes. You could try some research. There are many books on the Tiger 1E. There are photos Destroyed 6 April 1945 by US Sherman https://forum.axishistory.com/download/file.php?id=73417 Captured by British winter '44-'45 https://forum.axishistory.com/download/file.php?id=73441 Berlin1945 https://i.imgu...

Re: Santas Reindeer as Warships

I can't find a Rudolf but HMS Reindeer (1804 Brig-Sloop, 1829 Packet Brig, 1866 Sloop, 1883 Screw Sloop) Of course we would need HMS San Nicolas (1797 3rd Rate Ship of the line ex-Spanish ship San Nicolas captured by a boarding party from HMS Captain led by Horatio Nelson at the Battle of Cape St Vi...

Re: Troop Quality

You missed the point about die rolling. You appear to be using the opinion of a favoured set of "historians" who pick out a few formations on one side at random but ignore the other formations in all armies. Choosing 2 British formations at random is no better than rolling a die to decide those who ...

Re: Troop Quality

It all depends on whose "expectations" are considered and which "historian/commentator" is being given credence. We're the expectations realistic etc. Almost all German units and formations performed below expectations. 21st Panzer was expected to drive the British back into the sea - so downgrade t...

Re: 28mm Armour for my son's Bolt Action Games

Impressive painting. I am not familiar with speckling on the autumn dapple camouflage but doing 6mm I guess I would not have been interested anyway. Can you say anymore about it? On 18 February 1943, all vehicles were ordered to be supplied painted in a base coat of Dunkelgelb RAL 7028 (dark yellow...

Re: 28mm Armour for my son's Bolt Action Games

Thanks, these are the first 28mm size WW2 vehicles in the "ambush" pattern I have tried. Quite pleased with them. Working on some green British ones now.

Re: Santa

Of course you all breaking the law, the celibration of Christmas was made illegal in 1647 on Christmas day ! On 19 December 1643, an ordinance was passed encouraging subjects to treat the mid-winter period 'with the more solemn humiliation because it may call to remembrance our sins, and the ...

Re: Santa

Decided to do something different this Christmas. Not asking for anything at all, nor expecting anything - we have asked friends and family to donate a small gift. Because a small group of us (6) and a local cafe will be running a Christmas Dinner event for the local folk who would be lonely on the ...
