Re: Over & out

Well what is the point of membership without a Journal?? It is true that the Society ofAncients still has a journal. It also does:  Battle Day  Weekend Conference  Competitions and Prizes  A forum with very few postings. I am surprised that there are so few on the SOTCW ...

Re: Over & out

Thanks to all but I am not sure that ceasing publication of the Journal should mean closing the Society membership, which seems to be the approach made.

Re: air support

To what extent is Air support/anti air used on the table. Do gamers generally treat both like they are off table or do they represent both with kit on the table. Also if kit is used does the figure scale match. I have been using my 1/144th scale aircraft in 20 mm games ,for all the time aircraft ar...

Re: Wunderland

It seems to have slipped in under the radar as none of the usual wargaming websites seemed to have mentioned it. Not much of a crowd-puller then.

Wunderland

New film on Battle of the Bulge. Has anyone seen it or can enlighten us about it? Looks like it came out October last year. Christmas 1944, The Germans make one final push against the attacking allied armies in the West. Lt. Robert Cappa and his platoon of 2nd Infantry Division soldiers have been or...

Re: Journal 96

I don't want the SOTCW to fold, but I think we need to change the way it works. On the Facebook group, Richard B suggested that we could set up a blog where people could publish their stuff direct. I know plenty of people will miss the paper Journal, but I think that's probably the best idea I've h...

I have the urge to field a Luftwaffe Fortress Battalion :D
Love it! :!:  We field late war Germans as poor quality, edged with a few quality troops; none of this last-stand SS fanatic stuff.

Re: Blasts from the distant past

I don't quite understand. There are 50-odd Journals that we don't have available in digital format. If one Journal is too demanding, then what are you offering to do? Assume there are twelve authors who have written for a journal. We get permission from eleven of them. Does that mean we will publis...

Sherman Reliability

It is my impression that it is received wisdom for WWII that American tanks were more reliable than those of other nations. In reading Grint's LEADERSHIP, MANAGEMENT and COMMAND I note that he disagrees with this when he suggests that breakdowns were as frequent with American tanks as any other. He ...
