Much enjoyed by all; the invaders were defeated on the beaches!

Re: A bit too blue?

Unfortunately I choose a deep sky blue rather than a blue-grey for the base colour for my Poles and the result is especially bright in the sunlight, in normal light there are OK. Quite appropriately they are the Polish Blue Army from Strelets The important question is how they look on the table whe...

Re: New film: Hurricane

I don't think the thirties were illustrious times for British diplomatic analysis, action and outcomes. Only too true and it looks to me as if we are moving into the same situation now; without any effective military, we won't have the capability to intervene, whatever Whitehall or the man on the C...

Re: New film: Hurricane

The French had promised a full-scale invasion of Germany within 15 days, and Britain promised immediate intensive bombing of German military targets by the RAF. And yes, the RN would obviously be in a position to implement a blockade, although the usefulness of that to Poland was questionable. We s...

Re: New film: Hurricane

Polish strategy for their defence was based entirely on the presumption that their alliance with France (a traditional ally) and to a lesser extent Britain would result in a prompt attack against Germany's western borders should Germany strike east. Indeed, the treaties it signed obliged Britain an...

Re: Any other Modern gamers ?

I would be interested to know what the key factors are that you think a period-specific set of rules should have. That's a tricky one to nail down I think, as it's about the "feel" of the game as much as specific features. I don't think it's about modelling the characteristics of specific weapons, ...

I don't think it feels like the period at all, personally.

Re: Germans on D-Day

I have not read it but I thought when it first hit the shelves there was a frisson of doubt in the historical community; there were some who thought it a bit fake. [https://singletrackworld.com/forum/topic/non-fiction-d-day-history-book-seems-fake-should-i-be-annoyed/] I have read Through German Eye...
