Re: Journal 96

I suspect I (and others) have been guilty of assuming everyone knew the same history that we did. For the last while, there's been the possibility that the society would cease to exist, but we've been hoping to avoid that. In the past, the society has been largely defined by the Journal. We currentl...

Member query

A member has asked if we know the address of the South Leeds Wargamers and the address of a military history booksellers in Harrogate.

Do any of you know either or both of them?

Re: Journal 96

Grant, as far as I know we don't have it. If you still have a copy, can you email it to me, please? If not, send me the details, and I'll see if I can find it. John, it's partly to soak up some of the money. If we can't put one together, it's not the end of the world. There will still be costs relat...

Re: Journal 96

The website runs on WordPress, so when I referred to a blog, I was meaning a blog on the website, using WordPress' blog functionality. That's how we currently do reviews.

Sorry I wasn't clearer.

Re: Journal 96

John, At this point, I'm not willing to take money for Sub 16, because I have no confidence that we'd be able to deliver the Journals. I'm fairly sure Andrew feels the same way. I don't want the SOTCW to fold, but I think we need to change the way it works. On the Facebook group, Richard B suggested...

Journal 96

It's about six months since Journal 95, and so far we have zero pages for Journal 96. I'd like to change that. I'm going to see if I can write something. I vaguely recall that Richard B said he'd written some articles, but as far as I know, we haven't had them. Can you send them on, please, Richard?...

Re: Blasts from the distant past

It's a fair point though. Do the articles actually need to be bundled into "journals"? Not particularly, no. I'd like to keep some reference to which Journal they were originally in, at least, since the Journal Index is done by Journal. Until someone actually emails me and says they're willing to d...

Re: Blasts from the distant past

Assume there are twelve authors who have written for a journal. We get permission from eleven of them. Does that mean we will publish none of the material as we cannot publish a complete journal? Given that I've already mentioned that Journal 53 is available in digital format, with several articles...

Re: Blasts from the distant past

I don't quite understand. There are 50-odd Journals that we don't have available in digital format. If one Journal is too demanding, then what are you offering to do?

Re: Request for beta readers

Thanks John and Ian. I've asked in several places, so I'll need to sort through the responses and get back to you. We'd like several beta readers ideally, but not so many that we can't sort through all the feedback :) Honest opinions are fine (and wanted), but equally, we'll read all the feedback, b...
