Re: Sherman tanks from Butlers Printed Models
While I understand what people have said, the fact that BPM will print in ANY scale is a great bonus for those of us who use 1/87. My "moderns" collection is all in this scale as it was once the best bet for post WW2. However, you occasionally need WW2 stuff such as Shermans for Arab-Israe...

Re: Discovery Channel SCW in colour series
Fortunately he isn't in it much. From despising him as one of Thatcher's more objectionable disciples (2 weeks living on benefits in Newcastle and he thinks anyone can do it if they are sensible and budget properly....which of course is easy when you have an escape date), I'd come around to consider...

Re: Discovery Channel SCW in colour series
Stumbled upon it by accident. The footage is not original colour footage (I doubt any exists) but appears to be "colourised" using digital technology. There is a background music track of a modern composition (rather than original Cara el Sol or Ay Carmela!) which sort of gives an underlyi...

Re: Potential future website (split from What`s everyone up too?)
Perhaps we should try to create an annual Sotcw day (or weekend?) I like that Idea Carl :) Grant I may be wrong but wasn't this the origin of the Bovington Show? I seem to remember, way back when, that the SFFWS (?) and SOTCW had the idea of a Society themed war games show / day. The concept was th...

Re: What if Gott hadn’t been killed....
I think my reply has been interpreted as some sort of paean for the glorious Nazi war machine over the bumbling British... Far from it.......I'm well aware of who won WW2. The original question was whether Gott would have made a better commander of 8th Army than Monty, in the Western Desert. Unfortu...

Re: What if Gott hadn’t been killed....
I think the problem is that being well regarded in the British army (especially in the desert) didn't necessarily translate to competence in command. Gott was well regarded but he doesn't exactly stand out. Wasn't he in command of 7th Armoured during Crusader? Not exactly a stellar performance. On a...

Re: Butler's Hungarian Csaba armoured car released
For me personally, the jury is still out on 3-D printed models. Grant Well I understand that, as sometimes the quality is not always that good, especially given the prices they can go for. If you have been brought up on injection plastic or high quality resin, the finish often doesn't compare. Howe...

Re: Salute 2018.
I used to go to Salute when I lived in the South West and managed to get there the first year I moved to the Midlands, but I haven't been since it moved from Olympia. Locally I used to really enjoy Derby when it was at the University and it started to improve; when it moved to Castle Donnington I th...

Re: Potential future website (split from What`s everyone up too?)
Agreed things do come and go. I used to be involved with the CD Mailer which was primarily focussed on Command Desicion rules, but was a wealth of useful information. However the regular knowledgable posters started to drift away and it was shifted from a email based mailer platform to a forum when...
