Re: troubling times

That's a hell of a storm in a teacup, how on Earth did it ever escalate as far as getting the police involved? We are of course only hearing one side of the story, there could be more to it. I don't go in for any of this "oh the world we live in today!" nonsense. Idiots have always existed and been ...

Re: Kursk Map

What sort of scale? The really nitty-gritty stuff (1:50,000 or smaller) is like hen's teeth in my experience, but you can get stuff like 1:250,000. There's an American series of maps called N501 at 1:250,000. I believe they're from the early 50s but that's close enough IMO: N501 maps The city of Kur...

Re: DUG in Markers

They're pretty abstract. If you didn't tell me they signified dug in troops, I wouldn't guess. If you want a marker you can just place next to a stand, what about the FoW-style ones that are like three walls of sandbags? They're not very realistic, but it's pretty obvious what they represent. Person...

Re: Camera

I've got an old Powershot G10. It's a good little camera, second hand ones seem to go in the £50-100 range. Mine was a freebie from my father-in-law who's in the RPS , so if it's good enough for him it's definitely good enough for me! https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/512oLlcl35L._SR500,500_.jpg O...

Re: What`s everyone working on?

Plenty of 20th century gaming going on for me, but not a lot of painting. I did recently do some more WW2 partisans and a couple of bits and pieces for the rear-echelon Germans to face them. The guys with the MG-30(t)s were fun to convert, basically Germans with Bren guns. I also did some lists and ...

Re: M44 D-Day Landings

I've been very slow to get these online, but here are a few snaps I took during the game. I was given the US Airborne sector out west on the Cotentin Peninsular, supporting the adjacent landings at Utah. Due to the sheer length of the table I wasn't able to keep a close eye on how things were develo...

Re: Wargamers and Tactics/strategy.

width of the beaten zone given as 2 mills which at 600m is about 1m and about 2m at 1500m 2 mils would be 3m at 1500m. Bear in mind that unless you're talking a single gun firing a fixed line your beaten zone will be substantially bigger. A pair of guns traversing back and forth can suppress an are...

Re: Wargamers and Tactics/strategy.

So I guess the first question is : do your rules even allow your machine guns FPL fire as its called in moderns or as far as I can understand it in the past (and present) Graving", "Grazing Fire" or Fixed line fire. Obviously our rules Have it and Phil Barkers 1925 to 1950 ruels has it. Despite som...

Re: Wargamers and Tactics/strategy.

It has occurred to me that war gamer's, particularly those not in competition never talk about tactics and their implementation in there chosen rule set. mainly the talk is about models not how they behave on the table top. Why is that? I'm not sure I agree with that. I'm on forums and FB groups wh...
