Re: Campaigns

I have played untold one off Cold War gone hot games ,all fun , interesting etc ,I have a large collection of both Nato & Warsaw Pact forces together with some others. The one off games just aren't doing it for me any more and i really want to get into something with a bit more depth to it. So I fa...

Re: M44 D-Day Landings

Some great photographs there and a useful narrative. People had a very enjoyable day and it looks as if it will become an annual event!

Re: M44 D-Day Landings

Great game today. The Germans had the lead until turn 12, at which point the Allies sneaked ahead and won on turn 15 78 against 72. With only ten players the two main backers had to play as German commanders on two beaches each. A very busy day; I got some photos at the start, the end of turn six an...

Camera

People have posted some nice pictures. Traditionally this was a bit tricky but digital cameras have made getting close up detail a lot easier. What are the specs people have to do this in now?

Re: M44 D-Day Landings

Final call; I think we can still get another one in and it would ensure we get all beaches played!

Re: SOTCW Future Offer

I'm not sure what you mean by re-launching the forum. Yes, an awkward phrase; reboot or reconnect or whatever. As the main vehicle for the delivery of the services of the Society, I would agree a fresh and careful look at the methodology would be worthwhile. However, I repeat myself ad nauseam to t...

Tank Tactics

During WWII different nations seemed to have different approaches to supporting infantry with armour. The Germans seemed to detach tank battalions and use STUG batteries to provide support. The Americans had an approach of attaching a tank battalion to each infantry division. The Soviets I am not su...

Re: Wargamers and Tactics/strategy.

Perhaps because gamers like models and are limited in using them to hoping they roll better dice than the enemy; many veer towards the gaming fun in preference to the simulation aspects.

Real world tactics seem to get less airing than they should.

Re: SOTCW Future Offer

Interesting; my tale same but different. I joined the SoA in the 1980s but was soured by the heated politics within it of those days. I turned to the P&SS but suffered from burnout after a few years. I dropped out of Society scene for 20 years and then decided to join SOTCW; WWII was always my favou...
